Paul Kenny

Student Psychotherapist

Paul works with adults, offering a warm, authentic, and non-judgemental therapeutic space where clients can explore their thoughts, emotions, and life experiences at their own pace. He believes that a strong therapeutic relationship provides the foundation for meaningful change and aims to create an environment where clients feel heard, understood, and accepted.

Paul brings curiosity, empathy, and genuine presence to his work. He recognises that people often seek therapy during times of uncertainty, loss, transition, or emotional distress, and he works collaboratively with clients to better understand their experiences while supporting them towards greater self-awareness and resilience.

Therapeutic Approach

Paul’s approach is informed by his psychotherapy training and he has a particular interest in understanding how family relationships, and unconscious patterns influence emotional wellbeing and the ways people relate to themselves and others.

He is especially drawn to:

● Attachment and relational patterns

● Personal meaning and self-understanding

● Identity, self-esteem, and emotional growth

● Supporting clients through life transitions and periods of change

His work is grounded in empathy, authenticity, and reflective exploration, always respecting each client’s unique experience and individual goals.

Areas of Support

Paul works with adults experiencing concerns such as:

● Anxiety, stress, and emotional overwhelm

● Low self-esteem and self-confidence

● Relationship and family difficulties

● Life transitions, grief, and loss

● Personal development and self-exploration

● Work-related stress and burnout

Sessions provide a safe and confidential space where clients can gain greater insight, develop healthier ways of coping, and move towards lasting personal change.

Background & Training

Before beginning his psychotherapy training, Paul spent over twenty years working as a professional musician, educator, songwriter, producer, and arranger, performing internationally and teaching at third-level education. Throughout this time, he developed a deep appreciation for the emotional challenges faced by individuals working in high-performance environments, an experience that inspired his transition into counselling and psychotherapy.

Paul is currently completing a BA (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy at ICHAS and is undertaking his clinical placement at The Misneach Centre, where he provides low-cost counselling under professional clinical supervision. His practice is supported by regular clinical supervision and is guided by the ethical standards and professional framework of The Misneach Centre.
